The problem of opposed-jet diffusion flame is considered for general Lewis numbers. The solutions are obtained by using Modified Flame Surface Theory and Extinction#x2014;Ignition characteristics have been brought out. Analysis shows that the gases with high Lewis numbers are preferable for the purpose of flame stabilization.
