Simpson Dura-Vent, Vacaville, CA, a manufacturer of gas vent and chimney products, has reported a 50-percent reduction in consumption of stamping and drawing fluids, directly attributable to its recent integration of the Uni-Roller Coil-Stock system with the SPR programmable controller from Unist, Inc., Grand Rapids, MI. Steve Mclntyre Sr., manufacturing engineer for Dura-Vent, also has observed savings of as much as 70 percent on fluids in specific operations since the company installed the system early in 2005. The positive-displacement coil-stock lubrication system applies lubricant through internally fed rollers, constructed to support demanding manufacturing environments. Lubricant can be delivered with a cam-driven Unist positive-displacement pump attached to the roller unit, or automatically by using the Unist SPR 2000 programmable lubrication station. It can deliver fluid uniformly to the top and bottom of the stock.
