Graduate students at the University of Missouri-Rolla (UMR) are research-jug a project titled "slag splashing" as part of the ISS Foundation Ferrous Metallurgy Grant Program (FMGP). The project is being directed by Christopher Ramsay, an associate professor of metallurgical engineering at the school, who won the 1995-1996 Ferrous Metallurgy Grant. The FMGP supports qualifying ferrous metallurgy professors in order to increase among students an awareness of opportunities in the ferrous industry. It seeks to attract undergraduate students to the industry and businesses that support it. The FMGP is supported by the ISS Foundation, and awards qualifying professors grants of 150,000 dollars over a three-year period.
