18.3.16, France Weight is down and interior space is up in the new-generation Astra estate Vauxhall has put its new Sports Tourer on a crash diet, saving up to 190kg by using high-strength steel in the body and fitting a lighter exhaust and smaller wheels. Unlike most new cars, which seem to grow with every subsequent iteration, the latest Sports Tourer has roughly the same dimensions as before. But by stretching the wheelbase and playing with the packaging, there's more interior space - so much so that the Sports Tourer is now on a par with its roomiest rivals, including the Skoda Octavia Estate.
