摘要

The effect of neutron and gamma irradiation and magnetic fields on temperature sensors has been reviewed for the particular environment of the International Tokamak Experimental Reactor (ITER). Both Chromel-Alumel and Nicrosil-Nisil thermocouples are expected to be unaffected by neutron irradiation over the entire life time of ITER. Based on the available data, no significant radiation-induced electromotive force effects are to be expected. Magnetic field effects on Chromel-Alumel thermocouples could under certain conditions become important and, in this case, Nicrosil-Nisil thermocouples are recommended. For high temperature measurements (T>1200℃) in ITER conditions, tungsten-rhenium thermocouples are the most appropriate choice. Resistance thermometers, on the other hand, were found not to be usable in a reactor environment.
