Among the 24 projects wining State Award for Natural Sciences, 12 are led by CAS scientists, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The first prize of the State Award for Natural Sciences has finally found its suitable recipient after being vacant for four years in succession since 1998. A research team headed by Jiang Xikui and Ji Guozhen of the CAS Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, won the prize for its out-standing achievement in two important frontiers of physical organic chemistry: aggregation of organic molecules and radical chemistry.
