A new method for the assay ofClostridium perfringensalpha toxin (phospholipase C) is described using a sandwich ELISA. This assay has been shown to be quantitative, to have a high specificity for the toxin and is capable of detecting purifiedClostridium perfringensphospholipase C at concentrations of as little as 0.005 units/ml in cooked meat culture medium.
