At the top end of the medium-class range, Audi produces powerful and low-consumption petrol and TDI engines for the new A4: a two-litre, in-line 4-cylinder engine with 96 kW (130 hp) and a 3-litre V6 engine with 162 kW (220 hp). The petrol engine range is completed by the tried and tested 1.8 T 4-cylinder engine with 110 kW (150 hp).The compensation shaft transmission of the aluminium engines is designed as an "add-on" solution and is located in the accommodation space of the oil sump. It is made as an aluminium pressure diecasting and also comprises the engine oil pump.
