摘要

This article outlines the concept, formulation, implementation and preliminary tests of a mathematical model of refractory wear. The current use of the model is to focus on validating the model against refractory wear tests and plant results. On completing validation of the model, a water-cooled stave will be added to the model to analyze a range of different operational scenarios within the HIsmelt direct smelting process.
