Stand structure and regeneration pattern were examined inAbies sachalinensiscoastal forest in northern Hokkaido. In the forest a similar phenomenon to the wave regeneration in subalpine forests has been found. Wave regeneration has been reported for montaneAbiesforests in central Japan and North America. Differences and similarities between wave-type stands in this coastal forest and wave-regenerated montane forests were clarified.
