Headquartered in Troy, Ml, Tier One automotive supplier Oxford Automotive, Inc. supplies specialized welded metal assemblies. To support two new vehicle platforms and meet increased production demands, the company has installed an automated press line. The company's 7200 employees produce body components and complete body structures, such as inner and outer door and hood panels and floor pans, at 33 locations in nine countries. Each plant receives coils of sheet steel from trucks or trains and processes the material through coil-feed lines for cutting into steel blanks in a blanking press. The blanks are delivered via pallet to an automated tandem press line comprising five stamping presses, a robotic destacker and robotic press-to-press automation, and exit conveyor.
