Recently I wrote about a little-known tax law that allows you to obtain all the benefits of long-term care insurance (LTC) for free. Readers bombarded me seeking more information. The purpose of this article is to answer the most-often-asked questions. Why don't most people buy LTC? The simple answer is they don't know that the tax law provides for free LTC. Without this knowledge, they logically don't buy something they might not need. Industry statistics proclaim that 75 percent of us will need LTC. Not a bad bet…three out of four LTC buyers will be winners. But 25 percent will have wasted every dollar they spent in premiums. It's that blasted 25 percent plus a lack of knowledge that causes people not to buy LTC.
