摘要

A solution is presented for the problem of deter-mining which mix of technologies should be used in a fuselagestructure in order to minimize the recurring cost and keep the riskbelow a preselected value. The solution is based on anoptimization scheme that maximizes the cost savings over abaseline and keeps the risk (variance of the cost savings) below apreselected value. By varying the preselected variance of the costsavings, a series of optimum mixes can be obtained. Among them,the one with the highest savings for a given probability value (1probability of lower savings is proposed here) is selected as theoverall optimum mix. The approach was applied to the fuselage ofa typical helicopter. It was found that a combination of compositesand metal technologies is necessary to minimize the cost with manageable risk.
