An investigation on the equilibrium established in the process of chroming of dyed wool is reported. The chrome-developed dye Tomanolovo black AFD is used. The dye-chrome complex formation is carried out with three concentrations of potassium bichromate in the absence of additives and in presence of sodium sulphate and the sodium salt of dodecyl benzenesulphonic acid (DDBS). The results obtained show that the effect of surface inhomogeneity in DDBS presence is smaller favoring the process investigated. The lower value of the isosteric heat obtained in this case verifies that the process is facilitated from an energetic point of view as well.
