AbstractA symmetrical coplanar waveguide with finite ground plane (SCPW) has been analyzed. The symmetrical configuration is obtained by simply placing a dielectric substrate above a conventional finite ground plane coplanar waveguide (FCPW). The conformal mapping method is used to calculate the quasistatic effective permittivity ϵeffand characteristic impedanceZ0. The SCPW has a larger ϵeffand a smallerZ0, compared with the conventional FCPW. This configuration should be useful for the design of balanced mixer circuits and for applications to the design of balanced feed lines in printed antennas. © 1993 John Wileysons, I
