Purpose: The purpose of the study was to determine whether white-collar workers are aware of the major changes them; and if they are taking any steps to upgrade their skills and education for a possible change in employment status over the next five years? Methodology: In this descriptive study, a survey of survivors of organizational change in two industries (medical and manufacturing) was conducted. A questionnaire designed by the researcher was utilized to collect data to answer six research questions. Percentages were determined, tabulated, and than analyzed. Findings: (a) Almost all the participants were aware of changes taking place in U.S. organizations and their respective organizations. (b) Over half the respondents are experiencing stress, but their families show little signs of the effects of change. (c) Less than half of the participants felt their value to their organization had increased after organizational change. (d) Three quarters of the respondents agreed that employees should be prepared for a change in their employment status. (e) Only about half of the respondents attended college in the past five years and less than half plan to attend college in the next five years. (f) Slightly more than half of the participants felt their organizations were supportive of their education and career objectives.
