By a vote of 56 to 44 in the Senate and 223 to 206 in the House of Representatives, Congress struck down OSHA's ergonomics standard, which would have been the most costly rule in the agency's history.President George W. Bush followed Congress' lead and signed the legislation to repeal the standard. OSHA's ergonomics regulation now is null and void, and the agency may not issue a "substantially similar" rule without an act of Congress.
