I have many years' experience and wonderful memories of flying from fabled LaGuardia Airport, New York (IATA: LGA/ICAO: KLGA-Airways, October 2005). From the diminutive Marine Air Terminal (Airways, August 2007 May 1999) to the Pan American Airways flying boat hangar, to Building 88 (Airways, February 2008)-probably the most recognizable control tower in the country-I've relished the history created here by Pan Am, TWA, Eastern, and Northeast crews. And by controllers I know from voice only, who funnel huge volumes of traffic between here, JFK, Newark, and Teterboro. Succinct radio conversations-a specific language in itself-with LGA Ground Control, Tower, and NY TRACON (N90) are perhaps the best example of cooperation between ATC and aircrew that I've experienced. To the uninitiated it's baffling, yet the job gets done.
