A one-stop laser cutting and bending cell at Toro's Shakopee, MN, fabrication plant is bringing highflex processing efficiencies to Toro's most expensive and complex grass-cutting machinery - large articulated gang mowers for golf courses and public green spaces. Combining two Cincinnati Incorporated CL-6 laser-cutting centers and two 175-ton Autoform CNC press brakes, also from Cincinnati, the fab. cell has cut costs on reel components by as much as 30 percent. With the cell, the plant has reduced its outsourcing and enjoys enhanced product development and manufacturability, says Greg Loek, manufacturing engineering manager.
