Sandvik Steel has received several significant orders from the paper and pulp industries, totalling around $3 million, for its composite steel tube. This tube is installed on black liquor recovery boilers, a highly corrosive section of the paper and pulp plant. Composite tube comprises an outer layer of high alloyed material - said to be 3-5 times more corrosion resistant than carbon steel -and a low alloyed core. This inner lining of steel is formulated for load carrying rather than corrosion resistance.
