The rapid growth of DyStar in China has drawn wide attention to this "rising star" in the field of dyestuff manufacture in the last 10 years. It was first established in July 1995 as a 50/50 venture by Bayer and Hoechst. At the time Textile Asia was the first publication to interview a representative of each of the founder concerns. We also attended the opening of their first plant in China, at Wuxi, on the railway between Shanghai and Nanjing where capacity was tripled last year. Subsequently DyStar developed a second production base at Qingdao in Shandong Province.
