This paper outlines some of the technical, energy, agricultural, and political factors relevant to the production and use of the biodiesel rape methyl ester (RME), made from rapeseed oilbrassica napus, as a transport fuel in the UK. The study contains data and results derived from a laboratory bench test of RME against standard diesel fuel.
