Roper Whitney, Rockford Inc., Rockford, IL, has introduced the Gemini Autobrake CNC bending system, designed to bridge the gap between press brakes and folding systems and to provide new capabilities in forming applications. It features all-electro-mechanical operation for low-cost forming. It offers a capacity of 122 in. of 11-gauge mild steel, a hemming capacity of 20-gauge mild steel and bending-beam position accuracy of 0.1 deg.Key innovations include a patented, rotating Kombi beam that changes from standard 10-ft. solid clamp jaw to box tools in seconds, automatic tool sensing to adjust bending capacity, programmable crowning of the bending beam, automatic material4hickness detection to protect from overloads and self-aligning lower and bending tools with no locking required. Optional quick-lock Kombi box tools are available in two sizes: 6 in. with 11-gauge mild-steel capacity, and 10 in, with 16-gauge mild-steel capacity.
