Isomorphism is a universal phenomenon, which helps us gain more knowledge about nature. Thanks to the phenomenon, for example, many new species and genera have been identified in plant and animal taxonomy. In geology, however, the complete isomorphous series is quite rare. Among the nearly 100 new minerals discovered over the past two decades, no re-port has been made on such series. It seems to be more difficult to find it out than to discover a new mineral, Recently, a research group heeded by Prof. Liu Tiegeng and Prof. Zhang Qian from the CAS Institute of Geochemistry found, for the first time in the world, a complete isomorphous series of ZnS-CdS sulfide in southwest China's Guizhou Province. Their research has been reported in the recent issue of Geology in China.
