An experimental investigation of the combustion phenomena of gelfuel droplets was conducted using a computerized video system. Theignition and combustion processes were viewed and recorded while thedroplet and flame temperatures were measured simultaneously. Aparametric investigation was conducted to evaluate the effect of thegellant content in the fuel, the ambient pres- sure and the oxygenmass fraction on the droplet burning rate. The heat of vaporizationof gel fuels was measured and was found to increase with increasingthe gellant content. The experimental results correlate well with thed~2-law and indicate that gels burn similar to liquids, however atlower burning rates. Ignition of gels was more difficult incomparison to liquids, especially at relatively high pres- surce.
