At the end of February in China EU Trade Commissioner Mandelson warned the Chinese government that if they didn't run the country's textile and garment exports in a "managed way" that would please the EU and its protectionist lobbies, trade restrictions would be imposed on textile and garment export from China again. This patronising attitude from Mandelson gave Thomas Ostros, the Swedish Minister for Trade Industry, the opportunity to express his views on the matter in a letter to the Financial Times of London.
