The focus of this paper is on the numerical calculation of electromagnetic field in the end region of a large turbogenerator with the apparent power of 530 MVA. The three dimensional model is built up with ANSYS software, comprising the end winding topology and the housing boundaries. The model allows to take into account the real configuration of constructional elements. With this model the Joule heating is calculated. The Joule heating in the solid copper parts is then used as input for a succeeding thermal calculation.
