Painting an aircraft requires patience, skill and attention to detail. There are about 170 paint shops in the U.S. that offer a wide selection in price, quality, scheduling, downtime and reputation. Your typical Cessna 182 can be painted for a cost of $5000 to $17,000 and, historically, price has had a strong relationship to quality and durability. That's not to say that the most expensive job will always be the best, but it's less likely that the cheapest bid will be.
