This component considers the role of knowledge in organizational and social systems. The systems theories of L. von Bertalanffy, I. Prigogine, S. Kauffmann, and J. Holland are examined and critically evaluated from the perspective of the role of knowledge, knowledge development, and knowledge sharing in organizational and social systems. Each of these theorists offers a unique view of systems and non-equilibrium thermodynamic systems in particular.
