The La Grande Complexe project is being realized in the physical and human compass of the James Bay territory, within the sociojuridical framework of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement.Six thousand five hundred of the 30#x2002;000 people who live on the territory are Cree Indians. Traditionnally, the Cree hunt, fish, and trap. Since the hydroelectric project entails modifications of the environment and of the Cree way of life, adjustments are needed either to remedy or compensate negative repercussions, or to emphasize the positive effects. SEBJ#x2019;s Environment Directorate and SOTRAC are the two means of realizing such adjustments.
