Industrial wastewater control approaches have changed considerably in recent times with a number of mechanisms now in place. Potential future problems causing constraints and dilemmas can be related to the broad categories of water quality surveillance, new concerns, socio-economic issues, and changes in boundary conditions. Remedial measures include industry initiated actions and improved definition of water quality management plans and policies for wastewater allocations.
