The 1983 Institute of Medicine Report challenged nurse educators to educate practitioners who were capable of meeting the health care needs of our older Americans. For many reasons, efforts to integrate gerontologic nursing content Into curricula have been fragmented and disappointing. The author discusses this issue and presents an approach to Integrating gerontology content into nursing school curriculum.
