"A photographer asked this question on the Kracker Barrel, our home page QA bulletin board: "Do you think I should build a Web site?" My response was to turn the question back to her and ask, "Do you think I should buy a boat?" Unless you do your homework, it probably would not be a good idea to build a Web site, anymore than I should go out and buy a boat before examining my options and my reasons. There are all sorts of creative ways to use a Web site to get your photos in front of buyers. But take care. Some of the Web sites I've seen are mere ego galleries, the result of falling prey to Web promoters who entice prospects to place their pictures out on the Information Superhighway on a dark night without a road map.
