This paper describes an analyzing system that was developed to measure the energy of a highhyphen;current, shorthyphen;pulse electron beam of a few MeV energy produced by a linear accelerator. The system is able to determine the absolute energy of the beam with an accuracy of approximately 2percnt;. It may also be used to determine variation of the beam energy of less than 0.1percnt; occurring in times less than 10 nsec. Measurements of the beam current averaged over a pulse as a function of energy may also be made. Since the system uses a very small fraction of the primary beam current, it causes no interference with the normal operation of the accelerator.
