Wihlhelm Karmann GmbH, a German supplier to the automotive industry, was interested in how high-strength-steel stamped parts affect overall crash behavior of a complete vehicle. To assess crash-worthiness, the company uses stamping data from Pam-Stamp, a stamping simulation software program, incorporating that into crash simulations on Pam-Crash, software that performs virtual vehicle crashworthiness simulations. Pam-Stamp and Pam-Crash are products of ESI Group, Paris, France, available in the United States through ESI North America, Shelby Township, MI.With every new-vehicle project, karmann reviews new materials with an eye to improving vehicle construction The company, best known for its expertise in convertibles, has developed and manufactured more than three million automobiles for major OEMs. Karmann supplies customers such as DaimlerChrysler, jaguar, Renault and Audi with vehicle development, manufacturing and niche assembly services.
