摘要

A study of the flame and post-flame geometry in a laboratory thermal oxidizer. (LTOX) has resulted in the development of a physical model for estimating the flame temperature and the overall yield of soot when burning pure Toluene. Because of laminar flow in the burner combustion tube, a reproducible laminar diffusion flame is produced whose dimensions can be easily measured. Using the model, the flame temperature and gas residence time were estimated. These were used in conjunction with the combustion tube temperature and residence time along with the known combustion kinetics of soot particles to calculate a yield for the flame and ultimately the burner. The calculated yields agreed with those independently determined from those calculated from flue gas analysis.
