I am sure you have told a few of those "if I only knew then what I know now" stories. Here is one of mine. Back in a time when I was not as selective as I am today with whom I do business, my company designed a progressive die with dozens of pierced holes. Long story short, the die builder made two mistakes during tryout that proved to be catastrophic. The first mistake was disregarding design intent and failing to install the die-stop blocks. I have discussed the use of stop blocks in the past. For now, let's agree that one purpose of stop blocks is to prevent overtravel of the punch-shoe assembly relative to the die-shoe assembly.
