Sick Inc., Bloomington, MN, introduces the FGS flexible guarding system, a self-contained, noncontact control-reliable light curtain that combines high resolution with small size. With a cross-section of 2 by 2 in., it offers nominal protective heights from 12 to 72 in. in 6-in. increments, with resolutions of 14 or 30 mm and scanning ranges to 60 ft. It is designed for point-of-operation, area, perimeter or entry/exit guarding. With a response time of less than 15 msec, the FGS can be used with minimal safety devices, saving space.
