Dichlorodifluoromethane (f‐12) can effectively and irreversibly inhibit the catalytic activity of o‐diphenol oxidase (tyrosinase, polyphenol oxidase) in a simple buffered system. The degree of inhibition was influenced by concentration of and duration of exposure to f‐12 and by time and vigor of agitation.
