摘要

ABSTRACT:Deterministic models of watershed hydrology require accuratea prioriestimates of soil, vegetation, and watershed parameters. Physical fidelity of these values to those of the prototype natural watershed is essential. One vegetation parameter most neglected, perhaps because it is least understood, is plant root activity. Plant roots directly or indirectly affect many hydrologic processes, including evaporation, transpiration, soil moisture, and ground water. One of their more important functions is in opening surface‐connected hydraulic pathways for rainfall penetration. This paper presents the results of a study in which available information on roots has been applied in hydrologic computation
