The major conclusions drawn from the results of the present study are as follows : — Majority of women working in textile industry were upto 20 years of age, had primary education, earned. - Majority of the women working in the textile industry of Ludhiana worked at the ring spinning frame. Other operations undertaken by them included carding, combing, working at the draw and speed frames, autocoming, etc. Only a minuscule percentage of them were employed in the executive jobs. The status of work of a larger percentage of women in textile industry was low. Furthermore, education and income of the respondents had a significant effect on their status of work. Major problems faced by the women workers were low wages, exertion, long working hours and environmental problems.
