A reliable sliphyphen;on vacuum coupling scheme for lowhyphen;temperature applications is described. The novel aspect of this concept is the use of silicone fluid as the sealing agent. The stem and coupling joint described has performed without failure at room temperature, immersed in normal4He and in superfluid4He.
