The use of rhodium, ruthenium, and technetium is proposed for balanced filters for silver Kagr; x rays. Rhodium and ruthenium are used to isolate the Kagr;1, ruthenium and technetium for the Kagr;2, and rhodium and technetium are used for the Kagr; doublet. General criteria are given for optimizing the intensity in terms of the transmission of one of the filters at the line of interest. The transmission of filter A (lowest atomic number) for any of the filter pairs should be about 12percnt; for silver Kagr; x rays.
