At the regular interview in February 7 2012, JR East President Satoshi SEINO announced that the final performance and functional check test of the storage battery drive train system, which is furthering development as a new environmental impact reduction policy of the non-electrified section, would be held from February through March between Koganei station, the Tohoku line and Karasuyama station, the Karasuyama line. The running test in the non-electrified section and the combination charge test with vehicles and charge equipment will find this system to be very practical system.
