Greetings to all, as we prepare to head to Milwaukee for this year's SUR/FIN there is much to be excited about, especially concerning the work to consolidate our three industry associations and society. I have invited Pat Gleason our NASF Secretary/ Treasurer and AESF Transition Board representative, to offer his perspective and reflection of the new reorganization plan. It has been a long and winding road trying to organize our associations in a way that best will serve our members and our industry. It started many years ago in an airport hotel in Chicago in the mid 1990s. The dream was to consolidate efforts of the AESF, the MFSA and the NAME We saw the advantages; however we could not identify a common ground to get it done. Since that time we have, very slowly, attempted consolidate specific areas of our operations, like a common management team, a joint effort in Washington, DC and even the joint management of our events including SUR/FIN. We certainly must admit that we have had many more successes than failures. We have also learned that everyone involved has a common goal - to strengthen the metal finishing industry by helping our members to be all they can be while promoting the value and importance of surface finishing in our world.
