AbstractAs a means towards an understanding of the structural dynamics of deepwater gravity platforms, the dynamic response of a linear two degree of freedom spring‐mass‐damper system is studied herein. The mathematical model represents dynamic interaction between structure and foundation. Particular attention is paid to the influence of wave force distribution. Transfer functions are obtained for the response to sinusoidal waves, and resonant magnification factors are plotted for a range of structural and loading parameters.
