The 300-kW Buckley Hydro project is situated at elevation 8,700 feet on Clear Creek in Georgetown, Colorado. A unique feature of the project is a siphon penstock, which carries water from the reservoir, across an embankment dam, and 1,300 feet downhill to the powerhouse. In trying to solve a vacuum problem during operation of the penstock that had shut down the power station, the owners discovered a $30 fix that might be helpful to other hydro projects with similar penstock configurations.
