The ion acoustic radiation pattern from an antenna in a supersonic ion beam is measured. It is observed that the pattern, which is confined within a critical 'Mach Cone', displays marked lobe structure. These properties are explained in terms of the geometry of the two-dimensional wave number surfaces.
