As the 2006 elections draw near, PMA will begin to focus more attention to its political action committee, Voice of the Industry Committee (PMAVIC). To raise funds from members to distribute to campaign committees of congressional candidates, the committee will analyze the voting records of members of Congress to assess which members have supported manufacturing over the past two years. Once a core group of congressional allies are identified, PMA will distribute campaign money in a variety of ways. To maximize contact with members of Congress, members often will present the contribution while hosting a congressional plant tour.
