When I look at a magazine, if an image makes me smile, then I'll stop on it; if it's visually arresting, I'll stop on it," says Michel Tchcrevkoff, master digital photographer. But what n an image eye-catching or smile-activating? For many, it is the sudden appearance of the "unexpected" that makes us smile or stop to take a second look. Mindful of that fact, Tcherevkoff uses humor to draw attention to his images. He uses the element of surprise; the goldfish in the martini glass is a good example. "My goal is to make arresting images. You can use a variety of techniques for that. It's using a multitude of color or a lack of color; it's composition, the tension you bring to an image as well as a combination of all those elements.
